I joined MICA in June of 1990 as the first and only administrative assistant to work in the Office of Communications. 27 years later, the department is now the Division of Strategic Communications and the number of staff has grown from four to eleven.
I provide assistance to the vice president, the associate vice president, directors and other communications staff. I also serve as the budget manager, invoice processor, and receptionist, just to name a few.
Before joining MICA in 1990, I worked as a secretary/receptionist for the National Institute Against Prejudice and Violence in Baltimore. The Institute studied the nature of prejudice, conflict and ethno-violence on college campuses and workplaces—and the role of the news media in communicating prejudice.
